Study of Structure Mechanism and Countermeasure for Public Disaster

Abstract

                   The purposes of this study were 1) to study the appropriateness of current structural mechanism and public disaster countermeasure and relieve of Bangkok Metropolitanand 2) to bring in the appropriate structural mechanism and public disaster countermeasure and relieve of Bangkok Metropolitan’s Fire and Rescue Department.                 The result showed that 1) the current structure and public disaster countermeasure Bangkok Metropolitan was not appropriate to support the public disaster in Bangkok, and 2) Bangkok Metropolitan administration should adjust its structural mechanism in line with the present situations. This can be done through comparative study of Japanese cases. A special department should be established to encourage public participation and public disaster investigation for future prevention. The main duties should include monitoring and sending signal to Bangkok residents in times of disasters, training and developing officers and people, enforcing law and supporting disaster management, preventing and reducing casualties from disaster, monitoring relieve and welfare to disaster victims, rehabilitating the affected areas as a central coordinator
