A Conceptual Metaphor of the Situation of COVID in Poetry During the Epidemic of COVID-19

Abstract

This research article was purposed to study the Conceptual Metaphor of the Situation of COVID in Poetry During the Epidemic of COVID-19 in the light of the concept of Lakoff and Johnson (1980). The data used in the analysis were the collected poetry entitled "Recorded in the Land: Image of the Life of COVID-19", with 61 stories published by The Poet’s Association of Thailand. The results of the study revealed 9 conceptual metaphors as follows: 1. [The situation of COVID was war and struggle] 2. [ COVID was a natural disaster]  3. [Covid situation was a bad thing] 4. [Covid was an animal] 5. [Covid was a killer] 6. [Covid was a foeman], 7. [Covid was toxic air], and 8. [Covid was change].
