Behavior Development on Morals and Ethics in Early Childhood Students using Problem Based Learning Activities with Storytelling as Positive Reinforcement Technique

Abstract

Abstract

This research had the following objectives: 1) Studied moral and ethical behaviors in early childhood students by using problem-based learning activities with  story-telling as positive reinforcement technique; 2) compared moral and ethical behaviors of early childhood students before and after the implementation of the problem-based learning activities with storytelling as positive reinforcement technique; 3) studied the satisfaction towards the problem-based activity learning activities which aimed to develop moral and ethical behaviors of early childhood students with storytelling as positive reinforcement technique. The sample group in this research was kindergarten students of room 3/2, Satit Bilingual School of Rangsit University, during the first semester of 2019 academic year. The total number of students in the sample group was 24. The sample group was selected by cluster sampling method, and the classroom was set as the sampling unit. The research tools were activity plans, behavior checklist, the record form of early year children practice, the assessment form of moral and ethical behavior, and Satisfaction survey form. The research design was One-Group Pretest-Posttest. Mean and S.D. were used to analyze data. The hypothesis was tested by dependent t-test (Paired Samples t-test).

The findings disclosed as follows: 1) Moral and ethical behaviors of early childhood students using problem-based learning activities with storytelling as positive reinforcement technique improved better than the time before the implementation of the activities; 2) the comparison of moral and ethical behaviors of early childhood students before and after the implementation of problem-based learning activities with storytelling as positive reinforcement technique found that prior the implementation of activities student had the average score of 42.62, or 68.20 percent, and after the implementation of activities 57.54, or 92.07 percent; 3) satisfaction of students toward problem-based learning activities to develop moral and ethical behaviors of early childhood students with storytelling as positive reinforcement technique was in a high satisfied level.
