The Chim Shop Chai Project: A Study of Policy Implementation in Thailand
Abstract
The objectives of “The Chim Shop Chai Project: A Study of Policy Implementation in Thailand” were 1) to study the policy implementation approaches of the Chim Shop Chai Project which has already been implemented in Thailand, 2) to study results of the policy implementation on the government, private and public sectors, and 3) to study the guidelines and possibilities of adjusting the policy implementation approaches to comply with the actual requirements of the government, private and public sectors. This study adopted qualitative research methods and collected data from books, articles, researches and information disseminated through online media and related news articles, as well as from in-depth interviews with 10 key informants.
The research results found that 1) the policy implementation approaches of the Chim Shop Chai Project in Thailand consisted of a) 5 aspects for the government sector namely infrastructures, human resources, budgets, locations and equipment & tools, b) 4 aspects for the private sector which were human resources, marketing activities, product distributions and product & productions and, c) 2 aspects for the public sector including awareness and cooperation; 2) It was indicated that the policy implementation of the Chim Shop Chai Project on the government, private and public sectors has positive effects on the country's economy. Nonetheless, problems were found in all aspects as well; and 3) Regarding the guidelines and possibilities of adjusting the policy implementation approaches to comply with the actual requirements of the government, private and public sectors, it was recommended that restrictions on the measures should be reduced and publicity should be intensified in order to allow all sectors to effectively access the policy.
