Abstract

The objective of this current study was to investigate the procedure of creating harmony and conflict management. This study also aimed to and analyze conflict phenomena in Thai society, their causes, management of conflicts, and laws related with conflicts so far. Factors of supporting harmony in any contexts were studied. The results were expected to serve as guidance on promoting national harmony. This qualitative study relied on documentary analysis and interviewing senior politicians, activists, and those strongly involved in harmony establishing. The data were collected through semi-structured interview.

The result of the study showed that the causes of the core problem of Thai political conflict were difference in notions, value of democracy ideology, and legality in handling benefits of current Thai political conflict.  Some people regarded this as a complicated conflict, getting involved with many related parties having different political viewpoints. Though all parties are of the same viewpoint that democracy with The King as a leader will serve as an appropriate regime of Thai society at present, they have various viewpoints in terms of putting weigh on the value of national democracy. The proposed solutions lie on dialogue in 2 levels; (1) political agents and stakeholders and (2) local people in the form of speaker’s stage. There should be an open area for every social sector to extensively discuss, offer options and possibilities. Moreover, all sectors should have an opportunity to share and design future image of democracy and agreed political rules.
