Administrating Rangsit University to be High Performance Organization

Abstract

                   This qualitative research aimed to investigate how Rangsit University management can be elevated into a high-performance organization. The objectives were  1) to study the characteristics of high performance organizations,  2) to investigate the development and management system s of Rangsit University,  3) to conclude the feasibility for Rangsit University to become a high-performance university, and  4) to propose recommendations in terms of operation for the university to become a high-performance university. The data were collected from documents and in-depth interviews from 19 informants, which included 8 top-level executives: university councilors, senior management staff, Vice Presidents and Assistant to the Presidents; 6 middle-level management positions: deans and directors; 2 deputy directors; and 3 lecturers and staffs.

                    It was found from the study that a high-performance organization required administration to give priority to human resources. The organization needs to focus on the recruitment process, supervision and maintenance principles and ethics in management.

                    The organization must possess the ability to cope with environment changes, in turn, that means that a high performance organization must have a strategic plan. The strategic plan is the process to consider environmental factors, internal and external constituents, which can be used as inputs. Meanwhile, high-performance organization will need to focus on the clients by listening to their wants and needs to improve operation workflows and to ensure it is on the rise. This process requires a design for an efficient process through effective communication and cooperation of all staff and appropriate use of information technology as the important aspects to regulate the operations.

                   The high-performance organization administration is to be led by the top leaders and executives with great visions. And proper supervision will lead to effectiveness high-performance organization, which, in turn, ultimately achieves better performance for the organization and personnel. According to the findings, Rangsit 

University has some features and characteristics of a high-performance organization. The researcher has provided general suggestions for higher education institutes to become a high-performance organization. This relies on giving priorities to recruit leaders and executives, developing up-to-date curriculums to meet the requirements of the society, and focusing on the importance of human resource management. Lastly, higher education institutes should emphasize cultivating values and leading the society as two of their significant missions.
