Abstract
This article’s purpose is to study the techniques of language usage which appeared in Samut Phra Tamrap Khi Chang in the reign of King Rama II by beginning with researched the 60 ancient original manuscripts in Tamrakhotchakam of National Library. There were 2 books of riding elephant which identified the eldest year that contemporary with the reign of King Rama II of Rattanakosin era. They are the documents number 78 sheaf 8 and number 89 sheaf 9. After that, transliterate from the old Thai language to current Thai language. Next, analyze the techniques of language usage which appeared in the ancient documents.
As the result, the both of Samut Phra Tamrap Khi Chang in the Reign of King Rama II can segment as 3 parts which were introduction, description, and ending. As the appeared techniques of language usage were 1) introduction, this part starting with the word “Sitthikariya” for powerfulness and respecting the teachers; 2) description categorized as 2 parts that 2.1) the content presentation by using descriptive explanation and 2.2) language usage in presenting the contents which can subdivide as 2.2.1) introduction, starting with the word “Anva” and continuing with the word indicating to the chapter and 2.2.2) ending content, there were 3 types detected which were ending with word, ending with the content, and ending with identifying the title of chapter; 3) ending, there was no the consistent pattern, just only ending the book with the word “Than Klaw Wai Dangni Lae” (it was the way as he told) to show that it is over.
