Enhancing English Academic Writing Skills by Using Flipped Classroom and Active Learning

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) to analyze the challenges in the Academic Writing course; 2) to investigate needs of the third-year students from College of Liberal Arts, Rangsit University; 3. to study the effectiveness of the research project to develop academic writing skills in English by adopting the ADDIE MODEL model: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. It was found that the difference between the mean scores before and after the treatment was statistically significant at the .05 level. Overall at the level Very satisfied with an average of 4.476. In conclusion, it was found that the academic writing skills in English were improved. Using the flipped classroom and the active learning may be a new alternative for educators and writing teachers to consider using in teaching and learning or adapting or applying it in the classroom to develop other skills of learners.
