The Effects of Using Digital Storytelling Learning Activities to Enhance English Reading Comprehension Ability of Grade 12 Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) compare students English reading comprehension ability before and after using digital storytelling learning activities 2) investigate students’ opinions toward digital storytelling learning activities. The sample, selected by a cluster sampling technique, comprised 30 grade twelve students at Benchamatheputhit Phetchaburi School during the first semester of academic year 2022. The instruments used for this research consisted of 1) an English reading comprehension test, used as a pretest and posttest 2) 4 learning units with digital storytelling learning activities and 3) an opinion questionnaire toward digital storytelling learning activities. Mean and standard deviation of items were used to evaluate the students’ opinions toward digital storytelling learning activities. The paired-sample t-test was used to analyze the students’ ability in English reading comprehension. The results of the study were as follows 1) The students’ English reading comprehension ability after using digital storytelling learning activities were significantly higher at the .05 level 2) The students’ opinion toward digital storytelling learning activities were at the highest level.
