AUNG SAN SUU KYI'S POLITICAL IDEOLOGY SINCE 1945 – 2016

Abstract

The purposes of this study were (1) to explore Aung San Suu Kyi's political background and roles since 1945 – 2016 and (2) to investigate her political ideology since 1945 – 2016. For the study of her political ideology since 1945 – 2016, the qualitative research methodology was applied by using the in-depth interview via face-to-face communication. This was to reveal the motives, beliefs, and attitudes of the interviewees by providing semi-structured questions and using informal interviews. As for the overall analysis results of qualitative data collected from related documentary researches, interviews, and quantitative data regarding Aung San Suu Kyi's political ideology since 1945 – 2016; if considering both qualitative and quantitative data collected by interviewing Myanmar people in every aspect, we can conclude that:

(1) Aung San Suu Kyi's political background and roles since 1945 – 2016 were appropriate for being a leader who gave the importance to people’s freedom, and reasonable based on the liberal leadership style.

(2) As for her political ideology since 1945 – 2016, at present, there has been a change or a reduction in the concentration of liberal democracy in some areas, especially the equality of human beings among the minorities in the country, which was different from her previous days before fully entering the political system.
