Information Use for Pursuing College Education by Matayom Suksa VI Students in Nonthaburi Province

Abstract

This research aims 1) to study information use for pursuing college education by Matayom Suksa (upper secondary) VI students in Nonthaburi province 2) to compare information use for pursuing college education based on the genders and the grade point averages of Matayom Suksa VI students in Nonthaburi province and 3) to study the problems of information use for pursuing college education by Matayom Suksa VI students in Nonthaburi province.

This research was a survey study, and the target population consisted of 5,999 upper secondary students in Nonthaburi (the academic year 2019).  By using a sampling method, there were 360 samples. The questionnaires were used as the instrument for data collection, and the statistical tools i.e., percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and one-way analysis of variance were used for the data analysis.

The research findings were summarized as follows: 1) The Matayom Suksa VI students in Nonthaburi province mostly used information for pursuing College Education at the moderate level, including the use of information resources with the university handbooks ( = 3.72) and the use of information sources with the advice by school counselors (  = 3.57) 2) to compare information use for pursuing college education by gender were found that there were significant differences (p = 0.05) in the level of information use between the male participants and female participants as well as the grade point average groups 3) The problems of information use were at the moderate level, and  they  were the  insufficient  information sources (  = 3.52)   and  the distance of the libraries (  = 3.29)
