Attitudes of People in Bangkok towards the Policy Implementation of the Government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, 2014 -2019: A Case Study of the Rail Transportation Policy

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to study the attitude of people in Bangkok towards the implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government, (2) to study the relationship between demographic characteristics and attitudes towards the implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government, and (3) to study the level of awareness of the people in Bangkok towards the implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government, classified by  personal factors. In this research, the sample was 400 service users and / or people using the service of rail transit system.                                         A questionnaire was used as a research instrument. Data collected were then analyzed using statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and One-Way ANOVA with a given statistical significance level of 0.05 through SPSS.

The results of this study indicated that the results of comparing the attitudes of people in Bangkok towards the implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government, classified by personal factors were consistent with two hypotheses as follows.  (1) The respondents with different age had indifferent attitudes towards the overall implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government.  When individual aspects were considered, the respondents with different age had different attitudes towards the overall implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government in terms of project impact on people with a statistical significance level of 0.05. The attitudes of those aged 36-40 years were at the highest level (bar{x}=3.59).  (2) The respondents with different duration spent in rail transit route/road had indifferent attitudes towards the overall implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government.  When individual aspects were considered, those spending less than 30 minutes per day in rail transit route/road had satisfactory attitudes towards the implementation of the transportation policy of General Prayut Chan-o-cha government 1 in terms of sustainable development more than those spent at least 30 minutes per day with a statistical significance level of 0.05.
