Attitudes of Rangsit University’s Students towards the Image of General Prayut Chan-O-Cha

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to study the attitudes of Rangsit University students towards the image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, (2) to compare the attitudes of Rangsit University students towards the image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, and (3) to compare the attitudes of Rangsit University students towards the image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, classified by political news channels. In this research, the sample of 400 undergraduate students in Rangsit University was used. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data collected were then analyzed using statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-statistic and One-way ANOVA with a statistical significance level of 0.05 through SPSS.

The results of this research indicated that the attitudes of Rangsit University students towards the image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha was at a medium level. The results of comparing attitudes of Rangsit University students towards the image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, classified by personal factors and information channels were consistent with the set hypotheses as follows:

1.The respondents with different university year had different attitudes towards the overall image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha with a statistical significance level of 0.05. There were the significant differences in attitudes towards the overall image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha between first-year student respondents and second-year student respondents from third-year student respondents and fourth-year student respondents.

  1. The respondents with different average monthly income had different attitudes towards the overall image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha with a statistical significance level of 0.05. Respondents with monthly income between 5,001-10,000 baht had significantly different attitudes towards the leadership image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha from those with monthly income between 10,001 – 15,000 baht and those with at least 15,001 baht.
  2. The respondents with different information exposure via printed media had different attitudes towards the overall image of General Prayut Chan-o-cha with a statistical significance level of 0.05.
