Abstract
This independent study was a study of the guidelines to increase the amount in savings accounts for customers having a deposit balance in their accounts below 500 baht and customers whose savings accounts are left inactive for more than 1 year of Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Sida branch, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The objectives of this independent study were to identify the problems and causes of customers having a deposit balance in their accounts below 500 baht and customers whose savings accounts are left inactive for more than 1 year and to determine the guidelines to increase the amount in savings accounts for customers having a deposit balance in their accounts below the target set by the bank, affecting operating results and liquidity of the bank. The samples were 400 customers at BAAC, Sida branch. A questionnaire was used as a research instrument for collecting data from the samples. In addition, five employees at BAAC, Sida branch were interviewed. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results of the study indicated that most of the respondents were farmers, graduated with elementary education, lacked product knowledge. Most of them opened accounts to support government subsidies and accepted bank loan transfers only. The findings would be used to determine guidelines to increase the amount in savings accounts for customers having a deposit balance in their accounts below 500 baht and customers whose savings accounts are left inactive for more than 1 year of Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Sida branch as follows: Promotion of savings products of the bank to increase customer awareness. The savings balance will be expected to increase to meet the bank’s goal.
