THE EFFECTS OF TEACHING CHINESE BY USING VIDEO ON LISTENING AND SPEAKING ABILITIES OF MATTAYOM ONE STUDENTS

Abstract

              The purpose of this research study were to 1) to compare the listening proficiency of Mattayom one students before and after studying Chinese through video for teaching, and 2) to compare speaking proficiency before and after studying Chinese through video for teaching.

                The subjects of this study selected by cluster sampling were 40 Matthyom one students studying the second semester of 2017 at Nongyasaiwitthaya school, Nongyasai, Suphanburi. The research instruments were (1) Chinese 6 lesson plans using video for teaching with high quality, (2) 30 Chinese listening test items of 4 multiple choice questions with the level of difficulty between 0.47-0.67, the level of discrimination between 0.29-0.74, and the reliability at 0.43, and (3) 3 ability assessment test items of 5 scales with the reliability coefficient of content at 0.89, and the reliability coefficient of exposure assessors’ ratting at 0.90

                The results showed that:

  1. Mattayom one students who studied Chinese through video for teaching had higher listening proficiency at the significance level 0.05
  2. Mattayom one students who studied Chinese through video for teaching had higher speaking proficiency at the significance level 0.05
