THE EFFECTS OF COOPERATIVE LEARNING BY USING CIRC TECHNIQUE ON ENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY AND WRITING ABILITY OF MATTHAYOMSUKSA 3 STUDENTS A CASE OF KHANUWITTAYA SCHOOL, AMPHOE KHANU WORALAKSABURI, KAMPHAENG PHET PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1)to compare English reading comprehension ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students after being taught by CIRC technique with the criteria of 70 percent  2)to compare English writing ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students after being taught by CIRC technique with the criteria. of  70 percent 3)to compare English reading comprehension ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students before and after learning through CIRC technique and 4)to compare English writing ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students before and after learning through CIRC technique

The research instruments used in this study were 1)CIRC technique learning plans 2)a 30 – itemed English reading comprehension ability test, 4 multiple choices, with the difficulty degree of 0.34 – 0.74, degree of discrimination between 0.25 – 0.62 and reliability coefficient of 0.92, and 3)a 2 – itemed English writing ability test with the difficulty degree of 0.57 – 0.54, degree of discrimination between 0.44 – 0.50 and reliability coefficient of 0.88

The samples in this research were 35 Mathayomsuksa 3 students of Khanuwittaya School studying in the second semester of the 2017 academic year. The research findings were as follows:

  1. The English reading comprehension ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students being taught through CIRC technique was higher than criteria of 70 percent with the level of statistical significance at .05
  2. The English writing ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students being taught through CIRC technique was higher than criteria of 70 percent with the level of statistical significance at .05
  3. The English reading comprehension ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students after being taught by CIRC technique was significant higher than before being taught  by CIRC technique at .05
  4. The English writing ability of Matthayomsuksa 3 students after being taught by CIRC technique was significant higher than before being taught by CIRC technique at .05
