THE EFFECT OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES PROGRAM ON EXERCISE BEHAVIOR AND HEALTH - RELATED PHYSICAL FITNESS OF LOWER PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research was to study on exercise behavior and health-related physical fitness of lower primary school students in Anubanyarang School, Pattani province. Research sample comprised of 40 male students of third year class student (Grade 3) under the school. The sample was classified as two groups; experimental group and control group, each group consisted of 20 male students. Research tools were 1) Physical Activities Program divided into two activities; normal physical activity, and constructed physical activity, 2) Exercise Behavior Assessment Forms for four aspects, and 3) Physical Fitness Test for Thai children age 7-18 years old, developed by Department of Physical Education, used for seven aspects physical fitness test. Computer software was used for data analysis. In addition, analytical statistics were frequency, mean, percentage, and standard deviation.

 The research found that: 1) Exercise behavior of the students in Anubanyarang School, both experimental group with exercise activity program; recreation activity and football, designed by the researcher, and control group with normal activity program, the study indicated that both two groups of the students had their exercise behavior at the best level, after the exercise (posttest) on these aspects; behavioral adjustment, behavioral reduction, reinforcement, and self control. 2) Physical fitness of students in the experimental group, after the exercise (posttest), with recreation game and football designed by the researcher, the research revealed that skinfold thickness was fit, sit-ups 60 seconds was moderate, push-ups 30 seconds was moderate, standing broad jump was good level, sit and reach was good level, zig-zag run was moderate, and distance run was moderate. and 3) Physical fitness of students in the control group, after the exercise (posttest), with normal exercise program developed by the researcher, the research indicated that skinfold thickness was fit, sit-ups 60 seconds was moderate level, push-ups 30 seconds was low level, standing broad jump was moderate level, sit and reach was moderate level, zig-zag run was moderate level, and distance run was moderate level.
