THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIORS: THE CASE OF SPORTS CLUB MEMBERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF THAI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Abstract

The objectives of this independent study were (1) to study organizational commitment of the members of the sports club, University of The Thai Chamber of Commerce (2) to study organizational citizenship behavior of the members of the sports club, University of The Thai Chamber of Commerce and (3) to study the relationship between demographic data, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior of the members of the sports club, University of The Thai Chamber of Commerce. The questionnaires were used as a tool to collect 346 data samples and these data were analyzed through descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, and standard deviation as well as inferential statistics including t-test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson’s Product Moment Coefficient of Correlation, and multiple regression analysis with a statistical significance level of 0.05

The results of this independent study showed that demographic data divided by sex, year of study, scholarship status, GPA, and exercise frequency were significant difference with a statistical significance level of 0.05. In terms of the relationship between organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior, the study showed that affective commitment and normative commitment affected the overall of organizational citizenship behavior at the level of significance 0.05. If considered separately, the study showed that affective commitment and normative commitment affected organizational citizenship behavior in altruism, courtesy and civic virtue at the significant level of 0.05. In terms of organizational citizenship behavior in sportsmanship, the study showed that organizational citizenship behavior in sportsmanship were affected by continuance commitment and normative commitment at the significant level of 0.05. And in terms of organizational citizenship behavior in conscientiousness, the study showed that the three of organizational commitment, affective commitment continuance commitment and normative commitment, had an effect on the organizational citizenship behavior in conscientiousness at the significant level of 0.05 and it also showed that continuance commitment were negatively correlated with organizational citizenship behavior in conscientiousness.
