Abstract

This present study focuses on the analyses of (i) discourse structure, and (ii) content in 45 acknowledgements of the Thai-literature-study theses from (1979) to (2007), Graduate School Chulalongkorn University. In the discourse structure analysis, it is found that the discourse structures were traditionally presented.  The discourse structures in the present time are not different from the previous time; consist of three parts: first part is to thank the person(s) who directly got involved in the thesis, second part is to thank the person(s) who indirectly got involved in the thesis, and the last part is to thank the person(s) who was closed to the writer. For the content of acknowledgements, it is found that the contents were divided into three parts: (i) the invocation (ii) the success, and (iii) the autobiography.
