Imagery-Based Communication and Reflections in the Jungle Novels “Bai Mai Ruang Nai Pa Yai” of Watthana Bunyang

Abstract
This research article aims to examine imagery-based communication and reflections presented in the jungle novel "Bai Mai Ruang Nai Pa Yai" by Watthana Bunyang. The study identifies three key aspects of imagery in the author’s use of language: 1.Atmospheric and sensory imagery, which includes visual, gustatory, olfactory, auditory, and tactile elements. 2.Emotional imagery, expressing feelings such as fear, happiness, sadness, anger, and anxiety. 3.Imagery of physical symptoms and characteristics, depicting movement (such as restlessness, sluggishness, meandering, haste, frenzy) and physical traits.The use of figurative language for imaginary communication is categorized into three main types: onomatopoeia, simile, and hyperbole.The reflections derived from the narrative content fall into four main categories: 1.Reflection on natural resources in the deep forest, including depictions of rich forests, wildlife, and forest landscapes. 2.Reflection on beliefs, involving sacred objects, oaths, rituals, omens, fate, retribution, and curses. 3.Reflection on frontier livelihoods, portraying ways of living and income generation in forest-bordering communities. 4.Reflection on deforestation, highlighting capitalist encroachment and the failure of government officials to fulfill their duties.
