A DEVELOPMENT OF OIL PALM FRUIT SEPARATOR MACHINE

Abstract
A separator machine for oil palm is designed and developed to add value by making it easier to transport and process at a factory. The palm fruit separator machine comprises of a slot for raw material, a transmission set, a fruit separation set, an exit opening for raw material, and a one horsepower electric motor. The machine works by rotating a horizontal squirrel cage rotor with a diameter of 1.2 meters and 1.7 meters in length. From the experiment, it was found that using 2 speeds of 30 and 70 rpm at fruit separation time of 3 and 2 minutes respectively, the machine was able to separate palm fruit at maximum efficiency at 87.2% with production capacity on the average of 275 kg/hr.
