Development of guidelines for medical device management in hospitals, Lao PDR

Abstract

This research aims to develop guidelines for medical device management in hospitals in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. in central hospitals, regional hospitals and provincial hospitals. The research instruments were 1) guidelines for the management of medical devices in hospitals, 2) the questionnaire on the need for use. Guidelines for the management of medical devices in hospitals and 3) the satisfaction assessment form for using the guidelines for the management of medical devices in hospitals by analyzing the data of frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. From the results of the research, it was found that 1) there are 11 guidelines for the management of medical equipment in hospitals in Lao PDR, namely human resource management; procurement Testing and checking medical devices before the examination preparation of medical device registration Preventive inspection and maintenance Corrective maintenance, verification and verification, technical service contract management. Spare parts management Risk management and termination of use and 2) The results of the survey of the need for the management of medical equipment in hospitals found that the administrators and maintainers of medical equipment in central hospitals, regional hospitals and Provincial hospitals had the highest demand for medical device management guidelines (̅X=4.45, SD=0.70) and their satisfaction with the medical device management guidelines was at the highest level. The highest level (̅X=4.68, SD=0.59). From the results of this research, the guidelines for the management of medical equipment in hospitals in Lao PDR are obtained. This is a guideline that will help executives and practitioners in medical device have guidelines for management and operations that are standard and sustainable, as well as to create efficiency, effectiveness and standards in public health care with the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
