Abstract

This study aims to 1) develop PC tablet-based lessons on ASEAN Studies to enhance data searching skills of Primary 6 students from private schools in Pathum Thani, and 2) evaluate the effectiveness of the PC tablet-based lessons in the aspects of students’ knowledge, data searching skills, and attitudes towards the PC tablet-based lessons.  The sample group was 59 Primary 6 students from three purposively selected private schools in Pathum Thani, consisting 19 students from Wiparat School, 20 students from Napatsorn School, and 20 from Tippakorn Wittayakarn School.  These schools were selected as they had classrooms equipped with tablets available for use.  The research instruments used in this study were 1) PC Tablet-Based Lessons on ASEAN Studies, 2) Learning Management Plans, 3) Test of Knowledge on ASEAN Studies, 4) Data Searching Skill Assessment, and 5) Evaluation Form of Students’ Attitude towards PC Tablet-Based Lessons.  Means, standard deviations, percentages, and t-test were used for data analysis.

The main research findings were as follows: 1) the efficiency of the PC tablet-based lessons (E1/E2) was 80.38/91.47.59 above the prescribed criteria of 80/80; 2) the students who were taught with PC tablet-based lessons on ASEAN Studies earned the average score of the post-test of knowledge significantly higher than that of the  pre-test at the level of 0.5; 3) the students who were taught with the PC tablet-based lessons, Units 1-3 had a consistent development of their data searching skills;  and 4) the students’ attitude towards the PC tablet-based lessons had an overall average score at the highest level (x̄ = 4.52, S.D. = 0.37)
