THE EFFECTS OF STAD COOPERATIVE LEARNING ON CHINESE READING COMPREHENSION FOR CHINESE SUBJECT OF MATHAYOMSUKSA 1 STUDENTS

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to compare the reading comprehension skill of students in Mathayomsuksa 1 before and after leaning with STAD Cooperative learning, and 2) to compare the post-test results that were higher than 80 points. The samples were 30 Mathayomsuksa 1 students in the second semester of academic year 2017 at Tasaban Watchongkirisrisittiwararam school. The samples were selected by a simple random sampling. The instruments used in the research were 1) lesson plans based on the STAD Cooperative learning, 2) the Chinese achievement test with 30 items, 4 multiple choices questions, with the degree of difficulty between 0.43 – 0.60, and the degree of discrimination between 0.25 – 0.65.

The research findings were as follows:  1. Students taught with the STAD Cooperative learning had higher reading comprehension in Chinese language with the degree of statistical significance at .05.                    2. Students taught with the STAD Cooperative learning had positive attitude towards Chinese language with the degree of significance at .05.
