DEVELOPMENT OF PAST TENSE REGULAR VERBS PRONUNCIATION USING STORYTELLING AND MULTIMEDIA FOR MATTAYOMSUKSA 1 STUDENTS

Abstract

The object of this experimental study were to1) study past  tense regular verbs pronunciation after using storytelling and multimedia, and 2) compare past tense regular verbs pronunciation before and after  using storytelling and multimedia  By using cluster random sampling  to select the sample group from two classes, the sample group then included 22 Mattayomsuksa 1 students studying at a private school  in Lopburi Province (Semester 1/ 2018).The research instruments for data collection: skill test for past tense regular verbs pronunciation. All instruments had been validated (IOC) by three experts with the results ranging from 0.67 – 1.00.By applying Kuder Richardson (KR-20) , the pronunciation skill test had the reliability test result at 0.91. The data collection lasted six weeks and the data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test to compare the pronunciation competency. The results showed that 1)the majority of the students (66.63% or 14 students) scored higher than the standard scores (50% of 40 points), eight students (23.73%) got higher than 50% of the total scores (40 points).The lowest score was zero point whereas the highest score was 40 points( full scores), and  2)  the students’ pronunciation Skills after using storytelling and multimedia were higher than before using them with a statistical significance at 0.01. This implied than using storytelling and multimedia was effective in developing students’ past tense regular verbs pronunciation.
