THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE STOCK PRICE INDEX OF THE BANK SECTOR IN THE SECURITIES EXCHANGE OF THAILAND

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the stock price index of the bank sector (BANK). The factors that considering this study are the Stock Exchange of Thailand price index(SET), Thai Baht to US Dollar exchange rate (EXR), Consumer price index, Inflation rate, Fixed deposit account 3 months and Minimum retail rate(MRR). The secondary data was the quantitative monthly data between January 2013 and December 2017; 60 months in total by using the Multiple Regression to analyse data.  The results showed that the Stock Exchange of Thailand price index (SET), Inflation rate and Minimum retail rate(MRR) were statistically significant at 95 percent level of confidence and positively affect the stock price index of bank sector. Thai Baht to US Dollar exchange rate (EXR) was statistically significant but had negative relationship.
