Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the student's perception of self-efficacy, professional attitude, stress, satisfaction, and readiness in nursing practice. The 155 sophomore (second year) nursing students, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani campuses of Ratchathani University, were recruited. The research questionnaire comprised six parts; general information, student’s perception of self-efficacy, professional attitude, stress, self-satisfaction, and the readiness of students in nursing practice. The content validity of all parts of questionnaire was 1.00 and the alpha cronbach’s coefficients were 0.90, 0.95, 0.90, 0.85 and 0.92, respectively. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics—frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation—and Pearson product moment correlation. The findings revealed that the student’s perception of self-efficacy, professional attitude, satisfaction, and readiness of students in nursing practice were in a high level. The student’s perception of self-efficacy, professional attitude, and satisfaction showed significantly positive association with the readiness of students in nursing practice (p = .000), whereas student’s stress represented significantly negative correlation (p = .008). The findings of this study suggest that nursing institutions should encourage the students to have more self-awareness of their own abilities through teaching and learning and clinical experience to enhance professional competence, especially skills, and increase confident in their own practice.
