Developing Competencies for Tele-nursing among Nursing Students in Care Management for Patient with COVID 19 during Home Isolation

Abstract

During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, digital technologies have accessed to telehealth services. It can be used easily and conveniently, especially in patients with COVID-19 during home isolation. Tele-nursing is the key to deal with the continuously increasing demands of nursing care. Therefore, it is important to prepare and develop competencies of tele-nursing for nursing students in the fast changing world. This article presents the learning management process for developing competencies of tele-nursing among nursing students in care management for patients with COVID-19 during home isolation. The learning management tools consisted of multimedia, simulation based learning, and service learning. The results showed that students were able to manage care via tele-nursing for patients with COVID-19 during home isolation. The learning management satisfaction of nursing students was at the highest level (Mean = 4.49, SD = 0.58). The majority of nursing students hold positive opinions regarding three learning management approaches, namely multimedia learning, simulation based learning, and service based learning. These learning processes are an innovation in the field of nursing education in creating effective learning experiences.
