HEALTH PROMOTING BEHAVIORS OF INDUSTRIAL LABOURS WITH OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY IN CHIENGRAKNOI MUNICIPALITY

Abstract

This descriptive study aimed to investigate health promoting behaviors of industrial labours with overweight and obesity in Chiengraknoi Municipality and compare health promoting behavior of persons with overweight group, obesity level 1 group and obesity level 2 group. Purposive samples 250 persons. The samples were divided into 3 groups. 69 persons were overweight group, 114 persons were obesity level 1 group and 67 persons were obesity level 2 group. Data were collected using the patient information sheet and health promoting behavior questionnaire developed by the researcher, based on Pender’s health-promoting model concept. The content validity was tested by 3 experts was 0.93 and cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.89. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Kruskal-Wallis H Test.

The findings showed that the overall of health promoting behaviors industrial labours with overweight and obesity in Chiengraknoi Municipality was at moderate level. By responsibility of health promoting behaviors in no smoking and no alcohol drinking were at good level; health promoting behaviors in nutrition and stress management were at moderate level and health promoting behaviors in physical activity and exercise were at poor level. The health promoting behaviors in each group were not significantly different.
