The Silent Soul Music Composition for Jazz Orchestra

Abstract

This study aims to create a new composition for jazz orchestra and broadcast to the public, namely as The Silent Soul for Jazz Orchestra which is about 8 minutes long. The instruments in this composition include woodwinds, brasses and rhythms. The composer has literature reviewed and studied compositions and the ideas of many composers, before applying their ideas to this composition. this is a composition without rewind of any movements. Main ideas are 1) development and augmentation of melody 2) harmonic divide arrangement into 3 line including unison, contrapuntal and harmony 3) determination of modal chord and non-key chord 4) Overlay of swing and rhythmic even 8th 5) modulation 6) extension by adding improvisation sections 7) determination of dynamic and textural density and 8) developing variant subjects into melodic motifs. Accordingly, this composition has opportunity to perform in the Thailand International Jazz Conference 2016 at Mahidol University, Monday Night Live Part VI at Rangsit University and Big Band Madness in Taiwan.
