Abstract

This Thesis focused on piano practicing which aimed to give a piano recital. The procedures of practicing will be focused on creating exercises and method of practicing which has been adapted from 3 pieces in order to have a success recital with good techniques. The result of the studies informed that practicing only difficult phrases adapted from music directly could help performer create better techniques and better performance. Piano practicing procedures will focus on of 3 piano pieces which are Prelude and Fugue in D Major BWV 874 composed by J.S. Bach, Piano Sonata Op.27 No.1 composed by L.V. Beethoven and Etude No.1 in C Major composed by Claude Debussy. Music analyzing procedures will focus on looking for important phrases which have difficult techniques such as long phrase with sequences scales and arpeggios, borrowing fingers, choosing fingers used in music properly, articulation and dynamic changing rapidly and etc., then dividing into phrases, identify fingers, and practicing separately phrase by phrase repeatedly. Using metronome while doing rhythmic variation in difficult phrases, together with practicing articulation and dynamics. Writing finger numbers, phrase marks, and note down all details of what is needed to be practice in music, could help memorize and develop all techniques day by day. Fundamental techniques, scales and arpeggios practicing in routine practice in Major and Minor keys, are main idea help adapting those exercises.
