THE IMPACT OF CULTURAL DIMENSIONS OF VALUES ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF JAPANESE CONTRACTOR COMPANY IN SINGAPORE

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate (1) the impact of personal factors on organizational performance and (2) the impact of cultural dimensions of values on organizational performance of a Japanese Contractor Company in Singapore. A sample of 186 employees consist of several designations from officer level to above manager level were used in this research. The data gathering tools were questionnaires. The statistic used for analyzing the data were frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and hypothesis testing done by independent samples t-test, F-test and Pearson’s correlation analysis. The result of the study showed that the different personal factors in terms of gender, age, designation and nationality influence organizational performance differently while the different personal factors in terms of education level, work experience and salary influence organizational performance uniformly at the 0.05 level of significance. Regarding the study of the impact of cultural dimensions of values on organizational performance, the result revealed that there is a correlation between Geert Hofstede's four cultural dimensions consist of power distance, individualism/ collectivism, masculinity/ femininity and uncertainty avoidance with organizational performance at the 0.01 level of significance.
