The Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) Development to Enhance Effective Nursing Performance
Main Article Content
Abstract
Spiritual intelligence (SQ) refers to the ability to grasp life's ultimate meaning and value. It empowers individuals to comprehend life's purpose, gain a broader perspective, understand and empathize with others, take personal responsibilities and duties, foster independence, inspire, tackle challenges and obstacles, and creatively solve problems adhering to morality and ethics. This enables individuals to achieve success, find happiness in life, and live in harmonious coexistence. Spiritual intelligence is therefore important for nurses, who have responsibility to take care for patients, families, and other service users, as well as to work collaboratively within healthcare teams. Its development can enhance nursing performance, benefiting patients and their families, as well as promoting satisfaction in teamwork. To nurture spiritual intelligence, nurses can engage individually or participate in group settings, following a structured process. This process involves self-awareness, a commitment to personal growth, reevaluating on life's purpose, exploring barriers and solutions, seeking methods and adhering to achieve life goals, and remaining open to diverse paths towards achieving these goals.
This article remarks the importance of spiritual intelligence for effective nursing performance and methods for spiritual intelligence development which can be applied as the guideline to enhance the growth of spiritual intelligence for nurses.
