JOB APPLICATION BEHAVIOR VIA THE INTERNET AFFECTING PEOPLE'S SATISFACTIONS OF EMPLOYMENT IN BANGKOK AND METROPOLITAN REGION

Abstract

This research aimed to study job application behavior via the Internet affecting people’s satisfactions of employment in Bangkok and metropolitan region. The sample group was 400 working ages who used to apply for jobs via the Internet and live in Bangkok and metropolitan region.  The objectives of this research were 1) to study demographic factors including gender, age, working status, graduated fields, grade point average (GPA), income, and different experience affecting satisfactions of employment differently; 2) to study the Internet using behavior consisting of using hours per day and regularity of using affecting satisfactions of employment differently; and 3) to study job application behaviors affecting people’s satisfactions of employment in Bangkok and metropolitan region.

 The findings were as followings: most people who answered the questionnaires were female; their ages were between 26 – 30 years old; they were employed; they had a bachelor degree; they graduated in either Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or Economics; their GPAs were between 2.5 – 2.9; their average incomes were between 15,001 – 20,000 baht per month; and their experience were between 3 – 5 years.

The results of hypothesis testing showed that 1) personal factors consisting of different ages, current working status, graduated fields, GPA, incomes and experiences affected satisfactions of employment differently. It showed that different ages, different graduated fields, and different incomes affected satisfactions of employment differently at the statistically significant level of 0.05.2) The Internet using behaviors composing of different experiences in using Internet, different frequency of using Internet per week, different frequency of Internet using per day, different durations of using Internet affected satisfactions of employment differently. It showed that different frequency of Internet using per day and different durations of using Internet affected satisfactions of employment differently at the statistically significant level of 0.05. 3) Job application behaviors concerning with job preparation, benefits, interesting job and information channels affected job application behaviors. There were different among these at statistically significant level 0.05.
