WORK MOTIVATION INFLUENCING AN ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT OF SUPPORT STAFF AT RANGSIT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to study: (1) Personal characteristics that affect organizational commitment of support staff at Rangsit University, and (2) The work motivation factors includes motivation factors and maintenance factors that affect organizational commitment of support staffs at Rangsit University. The population in the study is 1,509 people supporting staffs that work at Rangsit University in academic year 2559. The samples consisted of 350 participants and statistics used are frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations and inferential statistics, including the independent samples t-test, One Way ANOVA, LSD and Multiple regression analysis.

The findings were briefly stated as follows:  most of the respondents were female (56.86%) and were in the age range of 41-50 years (39.2%), almost half of them were single (51.43%). The monthly incomes was between 10,001 – 20,000 baht (45.14%), more than half graduated with a Bachelor’s degree or lower (69.14%), and has been working for 1-5 years (32.57%).

An analysis of job motivation factors that influenced organizational engagement found that most motivating factor was the achievements. The second was a recognition and an advancement in career which have an effect with the organizational commitment of support staffs at Rangsit University, with the statistical significance of 0.05. The maintenance factor that has the most average was interpersonal relation with superior, subordinate and peers. The second was job security, salaries and benefits which affected with the organizational commitment of the support staffs at Rangsit University, with the statistical significance of 0.05.
