ECONOMIC FACTORS AFFECTING THE INDEX OF THE MARKET FOR ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENT (MAI INDEX)

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate economic factors affecting the Index of the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI Index). The Economic factors in this study are the securities price index of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), average gold price of Thailand (GOLD), Private Investment Index (PII), Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) and Private Consumption Index (PCI). The study use monthly series of secondary data since January 2012 to December 2017 total 72 months data. The multiple regressions with Ordinary Least Squares Method (OLS) is used to analyses the data. According to the results, it was found that, the securities price index of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) affected the Market for Alternative Investment Stock Price Index (MAI) in the same direction at the significance level of 0.05 whereas other factors average gold price of Thailand (GOLD), Private Investment Index (PII), Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) and Private Consumption Index (PCI) are insignificantly affect the Market for Alternative Investment Stock Price Index (MAI).
