Abstract

This research aimed to 1) develop the lessons for technical basic musical skill development by using percussion for the second year of The Royal Thai Air Force music students, and 2) compare students’ basic musical skill development achievement before and after using the proposed basic musical skill lesson plans with percussion. The subjects were 12 Air Force music students. The research instruments included six basic musical skill development lesson plans using percussion; each lesson was taught for two classes,  achievement assessment documents used before and after class, and also after class students’ development, problem and solution records. Analysis was done to compare the students’ pre-test and post-test scores; using Microsoft Excel and Nonparametric Statistics Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test . The results showed that 1) the students’ posttest scores ( = 50) were higher than their pretest ones (  = 18.42) with a level of significance less than 0.05. To sum up, the students had better basic musical skills in Rhythm, Dynamic and Articulation and would be able to improve and apply the skills for their efficient self-practice. Moreover, it is expected that music teachers and other stakeholders will also use the lesson plans in this study for their effective music techniques.
