Abstract

Eric Ewazen’s Sonata No.1 for Trumpet and Piano : Trumpet Practicing Method, aims to 1) study the approaches of practices and performing styles for Sonata No.1 for Trumpet and Piano by Eric Ewazen. 2) suggest solutions or useful exercises as per the scope of this research is only to interpreting possible ways to practice and perform the Sonata No.1 for Trumpet and Piano by Eric Ewazen, along with suggesting solutions or exercises suitable to be applied to. The researcher specifically created technique exercises in which to resolve some certain issues and to make an efficient way to develop the performance.
According to the studies on all three movements of Sonata No.1 for Trumpet and Piano by Eric Ewazen, it features diverse emotions and colors. Each part and movement require various techniques and the researcher has analyzed into an advisable approach of practices and performing styles which divided into eight subjects playing on legato, air and attacks, tonguing styles, choosing appropriate mutes, playing Scotch Snap, lip-slur techniques, articulations, and symbols-characteristics of trumpet to perform with piano.
