Abstract

The objective of this research was to study non-performing loan (NPLs) problem of Government Savings Bank (Buriram Province) and the preventive action guidelines for non-performing loan (NPLs) problem of Government Savings Bank (Buriram Province). The research method was the collection and analysis of primary data and secondary data using Strategic Management Process theory to find the preventive action guidelines for non-performing loan (NPLs) problem.
The results of this research showed that: 1) non-performing loan (NPLs) problem of Government Savings Bank (Buriram Province) is caused by the nature of business, the external factors of the bank, the internal factors of debtors, and the internal factors of the bank respectively; 2) the preventive action guidelines for non-performing loan (NPLs) problem were to focus more on banking credit analysis, cautious debt collection system, and regular follow-up with customers, by creating operational plans specifying job responsibilities, scope of works, plan details, required training, and follow-up result on operational performance of customer classification, customer relationship management, service differentiation, worthiness build-up, and the addition of service channels; 3) the success factors were the accurate analysis of organizational environments, skills and abilities of employees and work teams, effective communication, and efficient problem solving; and 4) contingency plan must include regular analysis of organization’s internal and external situation, routine employee performance appraisal and development, and proper manpower planning.
