Abstract

The purposes of this study were to investigate potential causes of overdue debt from Welfare Loan for Government Personnel and Corporate Employees under a case study of Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BACC), Chor Hor Branch, Nakhon Ratchasima Province and to propose the solutions of overdue debt. A questionnaire was used as a research instrument for data collection. The sample was 100 customers with outstanding debts from Welfare Loan for Government Personnel and Corporate Employees of BACC, Chor Hor Branch, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Data collected were then analyzed using statistics, including percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results of this study indicated that overdue debt was caused by household financial problems, economic conditions, and high loan rates. In this regard, alternatives were selected as additional measures for debt consolidation and restructuring to match with individual customers’ conditions. The proposed alternatives would be the guidelines to resolve overdue debt and to increase affordability. In addition, more loan approval could be offered by the bank to meet the welfare of  government personnel and corporate employees, which would be beneficial for debtors and their family members and ultimately better quality of life.
