Abstract

An independent study on the development of the online car reservation and maintenance system was conducted by gathering information and operational processes of the car reservation and maintenance system of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in order to analyze current operational problems.  The purpose of this study was to design and develop a database for the car reservation and maintenance system of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in order to solve problems of reservation system, vehicle scheduling management and browsing reports that the researcher has developed to be a website.  In addition, the researcher had determined licensing according to three types of users including: personnel, vehicle staff and the management of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.  The researcher evaluated performance of the system by evaluating performance of the online car reservation and maintenance system based on user trials. The results could be found that the online car reservation system could enhance the development efficiency at a good level, allowed system users to manage their car reservations and summarize information more quickly, helped manage complex databases to be accurate for planning, control and evaluation quickly and supported the management to decide in analyzing the organizational administrations more effectively. On average, the online car reservation reduced the working time by 66.67%, reduced paper consumption in the reservation by 1,500-2000 sets per year, and reduce a time for searching information of the maintenance system up to 80%
