Factors affecting talent retention in public and private sectors in Bangkok and its vicinities

Abstract

Talented employee is a small group of high potential employees that create the value for organization. The study “Factors affecting latent retention in public and private sectors in Bangkok and its vicinities" is aim to study the factors associated with talent retention in both government organizations and private companies. The questionnaire was used as a tool to explore and collect the data from the sample which are 285 employees who worked in Bangkok and its vicinity, and the data was collected for 2 week on October 28th, 2018 - November 11th, 2018. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The results from statistical analysis shown that the samples were mostly female, 36 - 40 years old, single, master’s degrees, 11-15 years of total experiences, 1-5 years of current experiences, average income around Thai Baht 40,000 - 60,000, and mostly operation employees under the private sector in Bangkok area. The study factors associated talent retention with high level of opinions were categorized into 8 factors; 1) security jobs, career growth and development opportunities 2) rewards and welfares 3) Job assignments 4) organization and administration 5) working environment 6) work and life balance 7) relationship with co-workers 8) organizational loyalty. The factors that associated with talent retention in moderate level is training and development. In addition, many valuable comments were received from the respondents.
The knowledge gained from this study leads to a better understanding of the employee’s satisfaction, especially talented employees, which is very useful to set up a policy or strategy for talent management in terms of talent retention in the future.
